Police said Sani allegedly invaded the house at night and directed his victim along with his family to surrender their money and other valuables.
The 23-year-old suspect, who is a resident of Unguwar Tagwa village in the Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, had invaded Musa’s house at Kaura Pawa village in the same local government, with a locally-made pistol.
Musa was reported to have raised the alarm while summoning courage to attack Sani, who reportedly took to his heels.
Sani was consequently pursued and overpowered and handed over to the police. The locally-made pistol was also recovered from him.
Sani is facing a three counts of house trespass, attempt to commit armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told a senior magistrate court where Sani was arraigned for cognizance on Tuesday that investigation was still in progress.
He pleaded for an adjournment.
The presiding magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, adjourned the case till November 28, 2018 for mention, and directed that Sani should be remanded in the prison custody.
