Fake Doctor Nabbed In Filthy Clinic Where He "Treats" People

Wednesday, September 12, 2018
The task force of Ondo State Ministry of Health on Tuesday arrested a man, Tayo Olowolayemo, for allegedly operating an illegal hospital.

Olowolayemo was alleged to have carried out illegal medical activities in an apartment in the Tipper Garage area of Akure, the state capital.

Parading the suspect, the Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Ministry of Health, Dr Dipo Durojaiye, said Olowolayemo was nabbed during a monitoring exercise of the task force.

He accused the suspect of admitting patients to the illegal clinic.

Durojaiye, who represented the Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, said Olowolayemo operated the illegal hospital under the guise of a patent medicine store.

He said, “Many controlled and banned drugs, injections such as Enagin, were found in his procession in the filthy environment he had been carrying out his nefarious activities.

“He had engaged in administering of drips, transfusing of blood with wrong instruments, injecting his victims with banned and dangerous drugs and disposing of medical waste in an unlawful manner, among others.”

After the parade, the fake medical practitioner was handed over to law enforcement agents for investigation and prosecution.

The commissioner was said to have warned quacks and fake drug dealers to desist from such acts, saying the government would continue to arrest and prosecute them.
